About Me
I was born in 1972 on the Isle of Man and now live in Trefeglwys, Mid Wales with my wife Kara and children, Alicia and Matthew.
As a family we operate "The Forest Experience Rally School" where we teach rallying skills and give novice drivers the chance to experience the thrill of driving a rally car. My grandparents and parents have all been successful rally drivers, and my brother Mark also competes at the highest level in the sport.
As well as teaching in Wales, I am privileged to travel the world doing 1-2-1 rally coaching in places like Peru, China, USA, Russia, Finland, Australia and France.
How It All Began
I got my first taste of motorsport in motorcycle trials when I was eight years old. By the time I was 10 I had moved into national kart racing. I was a highly successful karter, winning seven titles against drivers including David Coulthard. I still enjoy karting today. As soon as I got the chance I moved into rallying and was invited to drive in the team that Richard Burns drove for in the Peugeot 205 Challenge. After just one season I gained a works drive for Peugeot and won Class A5 in the British Rally Championship in 1994.
Around the world
I have gained valuable experience on World and Asian Pacific rallies doing gravel notes for Richard Burns, Colin McRae and his brother Mark. I have also competed in places including Peru, China, Australia, Finland, Russia, USA, France, Italy and Mexico.
2011
This was the year I received my dream offer to join Subaru USA rally team and not only was I to drive one of the most exciting class of car but I was also re-joining my winning team from the 2003 USA Championship. The year went great culminating with winning the championship. To make the year even better I had the chance to try and set the record for one of motorsports greatest hill climbs, Mt Washington. We beat the record by over 30 seconds on one of the hardest challenges I have eve done. I also got the chance to do some Rally Cross events with a 2nd place in Colorado and then a bronze medal at X Games LA.
2012 was going to be another year of travelling to the states to try and defend my tittle with Subaru USA again. A great season with many wins and second places meant we had the championship sealed with one round to spare.
2013 will be a tough year defending my last two titles with Subaru with the return of non other than Ken Block and a new fleet of WRC cars. I know my team will work hard to make sure we are in the best place possible to seal a 3rd tittle in a row.
Keep up to date right here.
